"Lose You Tonight"

The original concept for this music video is influenced by female lead singers in Alternative bands like Shirley Manson from Garbage. Particularly, this idea was conceived after seeing "Bleed Like Me" by Garbage on Yahoo videos. The original concept for the lead actress was that of a deconstructive-dominatrix, with a character name of Lauren le Feminist (an idea originating after chatting with someone from craigslist.org about a movie idea about a hot business woman who becomes a chauvinist-man killer at night, luring men into death with her potent sexuality).

In fact, this is the beginning of the original script I wrote: "Le Feminist: Takes place in Paris but filmed in SF. About a woman named Lauren "le Feminist" Sanchez. A postmodern tale, she is a dominatrix deconstructive satirist sadist (DDSS). Blonde or redhead, blue eyed, or brown. Voluptuous."

Anyways, after hooking up with some producers and actors at Detour Sonoma at Sonoma State University, a concept for a music video set to "Lose You Tonight" by the band HIM was developed. We jokingly tossed around the idea of "Wasted" by Black Flag, and that surfaced when it was realized there was tons of unused footage still ripe for the picking.

The video can be divided by scenes: 1.) The boyfriend is unsatisfied with his preppy girlfriend. He desires something like a dominatrix. So he goes online and googles "DOMINATRIX." The boyfriend goes to bed after looking at the Suicide Girls online or whatever. 2.) "The Dream." The boyfriend wakes up in a dream and is shocked by the appearance of his once-preppy girlfriend dressed in dominatrix-attire. (We needed a whip, but we got a knife instead to convey sexual-sadism... think penetration)! 3.) "Hallways and Shadows." The girlfriend lures her boyfriend into shadows. The boyfriend is freaked out by the doors, hallways, and shadows, but continues to chase his dominatrix-girlfriend. 4.) Proceeding into the "Pools of Light" sequence where near-attainment is almost met. The girlfriend is actualizing her boyfriend's desire for a dark, mysterious mistress. The chase continues into a gradual progression to dark ambiguity. The boyfriend wakes up as if in a lucid dream. The girlfriend appeared to stab him, so is he dead, and is the girlfriend dead? Are they in-love with death, is the boyfriend or girlfriend into necrophilia?

Leave it to the general ignorant public who think they know everything about everything to leave comments such as 'how corny'...or 'this is fake'...or '[its not even a single'...WHO CARES...this video is ART!...I personally was very much entertained by this...But I suppose those who can only see things for their face value wouldn't understand the underlying meanings here.
