Work on Bridge linking Pulmoddai and Trincomalee expedited

The Government launched the Eastern Resurgence Programme after completely liberating the Province from the terrorists. It was under this programme that the administration laid the groundwork for the building of massive bridges for the benefit of the civilians. Construction is in progress on 15 bridges which are more than 100 metres in length in the region. Work on many bridges is nearing completion. The Arugam Bay, Komali and Kal-Ari Bridges have already been vested in the people. Work on the Verugal, Kal-Adi, Ottamavadi, Kinniya, Raal-Kuli, Gangai, Upparu and Kaayan-Kerni bridges is being expedited.
The Yan Oya Bridge occupies a prominent place as it will eliminate difficulties encountered by civilians in Pulmoddai, Kebetigollewa, Horowapatana and Bogaha Handiya areas in reaching Trincomalee. The new Bridge is 150 metres long and nine metres wide. It has two lanes. The estimated cost is 496 million rupees. Basil Rajapaksa during an inspection tour had discussions with officials in charge of the construction. The building of the Irakkandi and Puduwei-Katti bridges is also being accelerated. These will give a new life to the civilians of the East.
