HUAC suppeoned hundreds of teachers in California at their job to appear in SF. Students from Berkeley protested, the House made a film of the event called "Operation Aboliton" it was supposed to prove the commies were behind the protest. At court the film was the main evidence of defense for the protestors and they were acquitted.

Briefly: HUAC was a congressional red-baiting committee run by Joe McCarthy in the 50's and 60's. Liberals at that time mocked the paranoid perspective of HUAC. That's what this song is doing.

@MaabudZ HUAC was the House committee that subpoenaed Pete Seeger and other prominent entertainers; McCarthy ran the comparable Senate Subcommittee on Investigations that was best known for pursuing "Reds" in the Army and State Department.
