Residents' concern is quite understandable. There're alternatives to TETRA, i.e. P25 system. It lets you define your frequencies, so pulse rate will vary. And it only transmits when PTT is pressed, which considerably minimizes RF exposure.

A TETRA mast was turned on 200 yards from my house and I instantly experienced a migraine and now have chronic insomnia

@josephiles Agreed! How many of those people put a mobile phone to their head and talk on it? How many live near TV, radio and phone transmitters? They have many more times the power and concentrated beam tilts to make the signal angle downwards. How many of the people use microwave ovens, they leak radiation, how many use wireless routers? microwave frequencies! I think it's all down to people wanting compensation or money for nothing as we live in a claims culture. people are desperate!

@josephiles acceptable levels are 00.00 lol stuff your green light up ya ass seriously. 380-400mhz at high power is dangerous, simple. Its dangerous if done incorrectly with analogue signals. CB 27mhz was used by and old fella years ago with the antenna close to the left side of his face yes it was a mobile antenna but within a year of constant use it sent hem blind in that side eye. that was less than 5wats power. I think there variable to 400w when its needed. Cell network is worst though

@MrBeeblebrook I value your point and think it is valid, however I also think my point is of equal value and we have given factual evidence rather than some points of this video which are speculation.

What was that "gadget" the teacher was waving around? Was that a cheap, chinese, ebay frequency counter with no display capability? When was the last time it was calibrated by a qualified instrument technician?
I would put GOOD money on the fact that it was picking up her own wifi or cordless phone, not the mast!
I would have expected a teacher to be more scientific about something she thinks is serious.
Lemmings. Remember that?
3 circles lit of green, last time i checked green indicates acceptable levels? I would be more concerned with mobile phone masts for the 2g to 4g units!!
There are levels of radiation across the UK without the help of man made equipment anyway?!

@josephiles The scientists I’ve talked to don't mention any concerns relating to the radiation levels emitted by Tetra transmitters, it's the fact that they pulse at 17.6 Hertz which has them nervous, since it's been proven that anything pulsing at this frequency interferes with the brain's ability to manage calcium levels amongst others.
But nothing has been proven though, just a lot of circumstantial evidence, with some users being diagnosed with rare forms of head and brain cancers.
