There are ONLY 12 notes in music (based off of the 7 letters ABCDEFG)

Thanks. Hope this helps. My apologies to Balitino, I've been very busy this week. :)

Stay well.

  • i have a question to ask you how true this is - i read somewhere on the net here that the guitar notes are one octave lower than the actual piano notes. Therefore, if that is true, what you shown in your video clip on where the notes are will not then correspond to the fretboard on the guitar. what's your take on this?? thanks

  • @cruisebreeze its true. but don't worry about it too much. play the written pitch, but understand that it transposes an octave. Not a big deal

  • what i don't understand is that there 5 lines on the treble clef and six strings on the guitar. please explain. how do you know what note for which string

  • @shake123ism go to my website and type in the search form 'applying notes'

  • Hi Walt, How do I know which string to play the notes on ? Say you have the D note which is the second line down on the staff, which string would I play this on? The problem I have is that the D note and all notes are on all 6 strings of the guitar and I dont know which string to use. I think the D note is higher because it is higher on the staff so I would use a higher string? Lastly, How do I determine if the music symbol is a chord verses a note? Thanks.

  • @arcticatcrossfire160 you can play it on a number of strings. go to my website and look up 'unisons' and 'connecting notes from sheet music to guitar'

see all
