I love the main theme to this movie. (Heard here at 1:15.) What's odd is that it doesn't seem to appear that often in the movie itself, at least not enough for me.
This is the number 1 soundtrack on my wishlist to download or buy. Why is it impossible to get this or the original "Cocoon" soundtrack? (Number 2 on my wishlist). Both have deep emotional resonance & memories for me. I love Horner's orchestral themes & how both soundtracks have great swing tracks as well. At least "Cocoon 2 - The Return" is available on Itunes.
@MrUABama the Looney toons song you refering to is based on a song called "Powerhouse" composed by Raymond Scott...James Horner almost copied it note for note in "Honey i've shrink the kids" especially in the main theme!
Great music and I love it, but it's missing that track for what I like to call "The rooftop waltz" where the two robots start the process of making little robots.
The theme Horner plays at the 6:27 mark is probably one of the best he's ever done. It's so sad yet hopeful at the same time. It perfectly portrayed the characters of Harry and the sickly robot.
Horner was so good in Avatar, but his 80's scores (Star Trek II, Field of Dreams, Land Before Time and this for example) were just absolutely amazing.

What is this song that starts at 00:45? I have heard it in older looney tunes.
