At four months old, the Setauket cygnets are learning to fly. Notice how they keep their webs on the pond surface as they flap and 'run' as they try to fly. They were very far away so they aren't perfectly clear...and there is a bit of camera shake to overlook...but they did take up th whole pond as they tried.PS Youtube would only accept this an an MP2...so it is all crappy and pixellated...Sorry for the stinkage.

  • Great footage mate. There is nothing so exciting as seeing a cygnet fly for the first time especially after weeks of accidental discoveries like strong winds picking you up or on the ground running away from being chased, tripping and opening the wings and instead of falling you glide to the ground. And you have also captured after all that flight school training and hard work, the splashing around and somersaulting to cool down a very hot bird. GREAT STUFF

  • @blackswantamer Thanks for your enthusiastic review of my video. It is fun to watch the growth cycle of these lovely birds.

  • With the title "Cygnet Flight School" how could this go wrong!

  • I haven't uploaded lately, but will in a week or less. Glitches can be frustrating!

  • Thank you for your encouragement! Have you had any trouble uploading? Only the sound comes through with a black screen...then if I reupload in MP2 format, youtube accepts it. But the avi format is a higher definition. This has not happened before.

  • No stinkage, just awesomeness with a few pixels!

  • Great year for them!
