What we call Diamond Head, the extinct volcanic crater that towers over Waikiki, was translated into Hawaiian as "Kaimanahila', or Diamond Hill. The song, a shortened, commonly sung version adapted by the late Andy Cummings, talks about taking a walk and seeing Diamond Head, Waikiki surfers and the old horse track at Kapi'olani Park. I learned it from Uncle Joe Keawe's 1977 album.

  • one of my faves, you really did this one up just right.... nice little stamp of your own toward the end

  • Mahalo, Kaaeamoku! I love your videos, great vocals and slack key.

  • Hana maika'i! I'm always impressed with your talent. Your 'olelo is awesome. You definitely take time to research the lyrics and make sure that you have them correct, unlike most people who post hawaiian songs on here.

  • Your words of encouragement are always appreciated. Mahalo!

  • nice leo ki`eki`e
