Antoni GAUDI - (1907) - Casa BATLLO' (Barcelona, Spain)

The first thing that catches the attention of passers are mighty columns that suggest the legs of an elephant. The roof instead brings to mind a completely different animal: its contours, consisting of a zig-zag line, reminiscent of the backbone of a dinosaur. In the middle stands a façade including small elegant and rounded balconies that seem glued to their home as a bird's nest to a rock wall. The façade itself shines of more color and here and there is interspersed with small round plates that look like fish scales, no corners, the walls are wavy and bring to mind the smooth skin of a sea serpent. Batlló House [http://www.casabatllo.es/] also seems to have the exterior walls of soft and tight skin. This feeling of softness and naturalness continues in the interior architectural achievement. Batlló House is one of the most original and extraordinary buildings, declared by UNESCO in 2005, "World Heritage".

La prima cosa che attira l'attenzione del passante sono delle colonne possenti che fanno pensare alle zampe di un elefante. Il tetto invece fa venire in mente un animale completamente diverso: i suoi contorni, costituiti da una linea a zig-zag, ricordano la spina dorsale di un dinosauro. Nel mezzo si erge una facciata provvista di piccoli balconi eleganti ed arrotondati che sembrano incollati alla casa come dei nidi d'uccello ad una parete di roccia. La facciata stessa risplende di più colori ed è qua e là frammezzata da piccole placche rotondeggianti che sembrano delle squame di pesce, non presenta spigoli, le pareti sono ondulate e richiamano alla memoria la pelle liscia di un serpente marino. Casa Batllò [http://www.casabatllo.es/] sembra avere anche le pareti esterne di pelle morbida e aderente. Questa sensazione di morbidezza e naturalezza prosegue anche nella realizzazione architettonica dell'interno. Casa Batllò è uno degli edifici più originali e straordinari, dichiarato nel 2005 dall'UNESCO, "patrimonio dell'umanita".

GORGEOUS photography, great capturing of textures. Too bad the EDITING WAS CRAP! You treat it all as just so much eye candy without any substance. Like the MTV crap. I've been there (twice) so I know what I'm looking at in your fleeting cuts. If I'd never been there, I might be wowed by the shots but still have no idea what the place was like.or what the genius of Gaudi was all about.
