what is the controversy with these singers? I don't see any but only good singing talent. one comment here is saying "no originality". remember you start by singing popular songs that can compete with the original singers and that's when you are discovered. originality starts when you're already popular. just look at charice now. the only problem is that charice don't have the proper people to make her a star in the western world to obtain platinum stardom.

@ajaballa She was just 15 years old and just got introduced in America. Not yet a recording star. SO how could she have sung her own songs? I got you wrong, sorry.

@Arjayjolan1- Every singers sings cover of other artist. What do you think will happen if Charice sings an original on Oprah at that time? Remember that Charice is not even known at that time. Now as of Sept 2011, she can appear anywhere and sing her "own" songs and believe it or not, she still sings "covers". Are they Controversial? I don't think so, they are AMAZING!!//

Philippines being a former Commonwealth State of the USA and were forbidden for 49 years to speak its own former colonial tongue Spanish have a lot of English Compositions of Filipino origin since the 1920's some of which wwere included in the hollywood Silent Films era. Check it out! A lot of the world is naive about this so that's the reason why yuo see a lot of comments having racial overtures....Filipinos are the Brown Americans of the Pacific by Mcarthur, Dewey, Taft and Roosevelt
