Yes, begged. America wasn't dependant on other nations natural resources then. Petroleum funds already planned on developments in S. America, Alaska, and the gulf coast was well in production. Iran began the oil embargo. Some OPEC countries follwed, then soon realized America can and did servive without them. And they wouldn't be OPEC in the begining if not for America!
