  • The trick to making good lemon balm tea is to let it soak in the pot for a day and then add honey ... my favorite mixture is lemon balm, sweet basil, calendula petals and honeysuckle flowers ~ "Eau de Vie"

  • Can u smoke lemon balm without any harmful effects?

  • Is there something I'm doing wrong? i made a lemon balm tea but it tastes disgusting with no trace of lemon smell which BTW lasts only for 1 second after you crush the leaves.

  • i have a lemon balm that does not have the smell of anything (including lemon) when it is crushed. What type of lemon balm is it?

  • @valerieedenW Lemon balm is Melissa officinalis the leaves look like regular mint ( heart shaped ) Lemon mint is Monarda citriodora, the leaves are blade grass shaped,

  • Wow thanks for the info. I am lost though, ive read in my book "The New Holistic Herbal" by David HoffMann that balm is an emetic, but Ive also read, elsewhere, that its soothes the stomach. Is this true? Or is it in very high dosage its an emetic. And I thought since it was in the mint family it is an anti-emetic. Please Help! Thank you.

    Cheers

  • i just found out today that previous renters left some of this at our current home. I was about to rip it out of the pot to plant something else, but they had left the tag so I knew what it was. I can't wait to try it out for tea! it smells SO good too!

  • Thank you for sharing, I'm growing lemon balm in my garden to make it into an ointment as an insect-repellenet. :)

  • How can you tell the difference between lemon balm and lemon mint? I planted a bunch of herbs, the labels faded out, and I have not idea what is what.

  • Thanks for sharing!

    I grow lemon balm too!!
