  • People still believe in religion ?

    It's 2010........

Do you truly believe an omnipotent being created everything but never reveals itself to us ?

Could somebody explain to me why an omnipotent being would operate that way ?

  • Okay. You fucktards do KNOW that this conversation is not about religion? It is about:

    1) The movie 'Ghosttown'

    2) And some humorous speculations by Ricky Gervais about the different possibilities of what happens to you before you die...

STOP ARGUING ABOUT RELIGION ON A MOVIE-INTERVIEW VIDEO!!! I don't want to see your stupid arguments...

    (P.S): Ricky is hilarious.

  • @l337z0r The problem with saying it's open is that you're assuming anything could be true for it and allowing any mystic/woo answer to be just as valid as things based on study and evidence. Evolutionarily speaking there is no reason to suppose that consciousness has an extra dimension for it if you look at other primates they for the most part all seem to have variance of conscious experience. There's no reason to believe consciousness is anything more than a trick of the brain.

  • @ronocko Well I agree with that. If we die, the thing we call our 'self' won't survive. But it's possible there might be some sort of layer of reality, like space-time, that operates as some sort of field of consciousness? We just don't know yet. It's a problem. Perhaps neuroscience will find all the answers; perhaps it won't. We may need a paradigm shift in science to accommodate theories that, right now, seem totally absurd. The problem of consciousness is an open one: for now.

  • @l337z0r No there is no ground in the scientific world about consciousness surviving death it directly, flies in the face of thermodynamics for one.

How is it foolish to dismiss the fact that consciousness survives death, If I get brain damaged my consciousness becomes entirely different and impaired, so what makes you think fully destroying my brain would make my consciousness repair fully remembering names dates colours and memories? If anything it's losing ground the more neuroscience learns

  • @weirdcitykid...

There's no such thing as hell though.

  • @5150jafo

You are going to hell you beastly thing!

  • @PrivateJoker17

    You too!

  • @Mrster Hahaha, yes you're right xD

    good talking to you :D

  • @PrivateJoker17

My statement was pretty safe and obvious really. No matter what you are, don't do anything nuts, and you'll be fine and accepted (in my eyes). That's about it.

And further than that, don't have a stupid debate on it on YouTube. ;)

  • @Mrster Yeah, of course there are crazy atheists, but it's unlikely that they'll do anything crazy in the name of their atheism. I just can't see that happening.

  • @PrivateJoker17

As I've said, crazy people do crazy stuff. Not every religious person will be turned into a nut job for being religious, not even the deeply faithful. There are those who go further and bend and come up with their own reasons though.

    Implausible, probably. Impossible, probably not.
