Man the sound of those old engines! 400 hp in the 50s?!

@Skrimpish Well, yes and no. Brabham cars introduced many features of F1 design that are still today prevalent; however, the first mid-engined F1 car (to score a win) was the Cooper T43, 2 years before Brabham MRD was founded.

so basically jack brabham is the father of modern f1 design...

Racing in this era was iconic. It was epic. And it took nerves I don't have. I wouldn't be afraid to jump in an F1 car these days due to the technology and the safety, but there's no way I'd jump in an F1 car up until at least the mid 70's. Just virtually driving a 67 F1 car around in GPL scares me, let alone doing it in real life.

I have read that f1 cars back then were really wide, because drivers couldn't fit their massive balls of steel into the cockpit.
back when drivers were men not boys.

Flying cars on Nordschleife from '60s, well that is the real challenge and real race!
