  • It can lead to aggression if you don't meet the dog my dog uses the prong collar and he is still a happy dog with other dogs

  • know how to use them properly, do LOTS of research and remember, prong collars are not designd to hurt dogs. If you are not 100% sure about using it on your dog then don't - your nervousness will pass on to your dog and make the tool completely inevective and possibly make your dog's behavioural problem worse. Good luck to everyone! :)

  • He yelped once and backed up. I told him 'good boy', and walked out the door with him calmly at my side (This was the first time he'd walked like that since he was a pup, I mad sure to stay calm but in my head I was jumping up and down with happiness!) as we walked up the street he stayed right by my side, very calm and under control, we walked past sheep, cats and school children, he only had to be corrected once. We were out for an hour. I would highly recommend prong collars but ONLY if you

  • I bought a prong collar from the internet and it arrived today. I had done a lot of research before I bought it as, even though I know they work when used correctly, I wanted to make sure I knew how to use them correctly so that I could avoid hurting my dog and making his pulling on the lead problem worse. I put the collar and lead on him, as usual he lunged toward the door in excitment (I made sure not to tense my arm to make sure it was just the dog who was putting preasure on the lead)

  • @GoneToTheDoggy they are not wolves, but they are definitely dog humans either. I find positive reinforcement uses a lot of human psychology on dogs which they don't understand, a lot of positive reinforcment methods need the dog to be able to rationalize, but dogs don't and can't do that. I don't agree with inflicting pain on dogs, but I also don't agree that dogs should be treated like tender, spoiled babies who are wrapped in cotton wool.

  • @bam4x4 lmao, a prong collar will hurt your dog. what do you think it is? a shiney necklace? thats what they are ment to do. hurt the dog. ive seen one used and it is not pretty. The dog looked miserable and hurt. if you are so sure that there is not pain involved, why dont you drop the threat and do just what you were talking about? tapping the dog on the shoulder.Ive never used any - meathods on my dog sparky. and hes never done anything bad. they dont need a pack leader thats just nonsense..

  • @markleblanc4 There is no pain involved with using a training collar. I can take ANY DOG with the worst aggression/behavior problems and have results the same day and have that same dog laying on the floor with children in the same week with ZERO problems. A dog that once would have torn your face off is laying on the floor with toddlers and other dogs. Treat trainers wont DARE take a "aggressive" dog that has a strong history of violence and transform them. They'd rather kill them.

  • @GoneToTheDoggy I dont BULLY my dogs. I show them the love and STRUCTURE they deserve. You are right, they are not wolves, but they were at one point in time wild animals that have been domesticated over hundreds of years. Which means they still have that instilled in their brain that they automatically take the pack leader ship role. And a 1 is the equivalent to me touching you on the shoulder and showing you the right way to do something. There is no pain involved when its done properly.

  • @bam4x4 lmfao, your retarted if you think positive reinforcement isnt for the real world. my dog has never barked, bitten, or scared anyone and i ONLY use positive reinforcement. positive reinforcement teaches your dog to think instead of teaching your dog to be scared of getting hurt. even if it is "a 1 on a scale of 1to10" its still a 1, it still teaches the dog that if they dont do somthing wrong, then they are going to get hurt. and dogs dont need a pack leader, there not wolves, there dogs

  • @bam4x4 I don't bribe my dog, and on a scale of 1-10 I've never even used a 1 on my dog in terms of pain. And I'm from the good ol' USA. Your training methods are outdated. My dog is 5 months old and he obeys at least 20 commands without needing treats or pain. I reward my dog with life rewards. Check out Zak George on youtube and learn a thing or two about training dogs.
