1.1Waterproofing of expansions joints
In order to obtain a high level of waterproofing of the joint it must be used a flexible membrane mounted under the expansion joints system. To fulfil this demand it was manufactured this type GUMBA BJ systems the product Waterbarier.
The sizes of Waterbarier are specific for each size of GUMBA® type BJ system (table 3).
1.2Bridge Expansion Joints GUMBA® type BJ
Expansion joints GUMBA® type BJ are designed to structurally resist in order to support the traffic loads. Low resistance at expansion and contraction is provided by the deformation of the neopren. The aluminium riding plate provides wear resistant surface, skid resistant and long lasting.
The movement range of the bridge expansion joints GUMBA® type BJ is from 51 mm, 75 mm, 101 mm and 165 mm. (Table 2)

2.SHORT DESCRIPTION
The expansion joints GUMBA® BJ are systems developed for bridges, ramps, and roadways. They are designed for long-life performance under heavy traffic.
A.Armouring of GUMBA® BJ expansion joints system
The surface of the GUMBA® BJ joints is armoured with the aluminium plate, the ribs and edges protect the neopren against tyre abrasion.
The surface is skid resistant; the high resistance ribbed surface is grooved for maximum friction. The neopren surface has no great exposure to traffic; the skewed seats insure the rapid discharge of surface waters.
