Sigiriya is one of the most amazing sites in the world. The ascent to the palace (or what remains of it) is definately an experience for the ages, as are the frescoes.
I didn't know this wonder existed until watching a "Globetrekker" special on PBS. Fascinating history, it now ranks right up there with the Sphinx, IMO. Great video!
The truth is that King Kashyapa did not build Sigiriya. He only took refuge in the old palace of a king called Ravana (tens of Thounds years ago)in the distant history. Of course at the time of the time of the British historians that was inconcievable. Modern archeology has proved Ravana story more plausible than than Kashyapa buiding such structure.
