Enjoy the sights, sounds and music of Primo Italiano which is is the most popular event of the Sydney Italian Festival and this year attracted more than 30,000 people when it took place on 25/05/08.
It celebrates the area where Sydney's first Italian migrants settled after arriving in the city. Stanley St is rich in Italian history and developed a reputation as a simple, cheap café strip following a wave of Italian post-war migrants who settled in the area and opened businesses.
Many of Sydney's best Italian restaurants have gourmet market stalls in Stanley and Yurong Streets with traditional foods like cannoli, risotto, Italian breads, wood-fired pizza, seafood, lasagna, biscuits and cheeses.
Enjoy some of the highlight's of the Primo Italiano and get your voices in tune as we also take you on a journey of Italian music and song. At the end is a beautiful rendition of my favourite Italian song O Solo Mio or as it's better known in English It's Now or Never. Primo Italiano really is a fantastic celebration of Sydney's original little Italy.
