I wish Julie played Eliza. We would have heard a beautiful and REAL voice.

my mistake.. i've watched the movie hundreds of times, and never have noticed it was dubbed. i would've sworn that is was the actress herself singing.
-
@jm912miller also, oops.. sorry. i just saw that someone else replied that already. sorry about that.

@jm912miller Actually no, The singing voice for Eliza in the film is Marni Nixon, not Audrey. She was also the singing voice for Anna in "The king and I" and Maria in "West Side Story". *the more you know* :)
-
@jm912miller Actually no Marnie Nixon did almost all singing roles for musicals back then. As she didn in this one, she was Hepburns singing voice

@bettinaholbek You can't trust Wikipedia? I am shocked, shocked I tell you!

@bettinaholbek Someone may have said she looked too old, but she was six years younger than Hepburn.
In the stage premiere of Pygmalion, Eliza was played by Mrs. Patrick Campbell, aged 49, for whom Shaw had specifically written the role, in spite of the fact that in his published version of the play, he describes Eliza as a very young girl, younger than any actress who has played her on screen, or in a Broadway or London stage version. Wendy Hiller was 26 in the screen version of Pygmalion.

they tried to make her ugly. it didn't work at all. haha
