At 7:10, LKY speaks of Cory Aquino's weak approach to handling nat'l security. A year or two later, LKY visits PH & lectures the country about the need to have more discipline & less democracy. His comments are not be well received. Not heeding LKY's advice, Filipinos make the same mistake again many years later & elect the son of the mother to presidency. Cut from the same cloth, he bungles and messes country up beyond repair. A classic textbook example of how countries choose to fail. Sayang!
His example of Sri Lanka is completely irrelevant. Sri Lanka descended into chaos because it was their governmental policy to marginalise one entire section of society. How would the ISA have helped them? I'm not saying Singapore could never become as foolish as the government of Sri Lanka then, but then the only use of the ISA would be on the political leaders.
wow i skipped to the part of Dr James Gomez talking. it was like taking a time capsule back in time. Think its not easy to ask such hard questions at Lee in the 80s. No wonder people say SDP is ahead of its time. *RESPECT* This changed the way I see James.

Brilliant snippet of the development of Singapore, for the uninitiated. Young Singaporeans should watch this to gain perspective.

At 20:50, James Gomez, then a 3rd year undergrad at NUS, asked the question on the ISA.
