Nice in-joke! For those who don't know, Paul Stanley, the guitarist (i think, I'm not a big KISS fan, so correct me if I'm wrong) played the Phantom on Broadway.

@edzick917 actually, I think Ed wrote and played the guitar riffs on the original--then Ace came in and played it for what ended up on the album. Gene was trying to get Ed in the band at the time. This according to David Lee Roth in his book Crazy from the Heat.
