Hike up Mt Beacon in Beacon NY, grid FN31AL

At 1600ish feet of elevation, we setup a 3 element 6m beam, 4 element 2m beam, 7 element 70cm beam and worked all 3 bands with my FT-857.

We managed 44 contacts in the 1.5 hours of operating.

  • @Moonchild7474 we were running the full 100 watts the radio had to give.

  • I guess CQ is the equiv of breaker breaker CB talk?

  • @inachu yup pretty much, its a Hey anyone out there..

  • what brand antenna is that?

  • @bmxracernc

The 70cm and 2m are both Arrow Antenna's.

The 6m beam is unknown, But its a fairly old backpacking beam thats pretty light weight.

  • awesome, great to see your enthusiasm

  • I was considering a Yaseu 857d for my next rig and the vhf performance of your rig sealed the deal! I wanted 100 watts on the HF bands with all mode capability on 6m, 2m, and 440... NICE rig!
