The 20th Anniversary of the course SYSC 4700:

TELECOMMUNICATIONS ENGINEERING was celebrated on June 4th, 2009. The MC was Professor Halim Yanikomeroglu, the current course instructor.

President Roseann Runte, Dean Rafik Goubran, Professor David Falconer (the former course coordinator), Robert Haughton (founder of the course), several faculty members, administrators, executives from Bell Canada, guest lecturers, and students were present during the event. This is a very special and unique course due to a number of reasons. The course aims at giving the big picture of the telecommunication world. It is composed of seminars-like lectures delivered by experts from government labs, industry, and academia. In addition to engineering aspect of telecommunication, the course highlights aspects like economics, standards related, and regulation-based issues. As far as we know, there is no Canadian University that offers a similar engineering course.

  • FAIL....at putting in a high pass filter. Should have filtered out all those annoying hissing sounds in the video. Very annoying to watch.
