Grishuk Platov 1994 Rock Around The Clock

I noticed that this performance was not uploaded on youtube and decided to do it :)) There's also a short interview at the beginning of the clip. Grishuk and Platov are the best ice dancers by now. And I don't think that in the near future there would be a pair like them.

excuse me, but you're british, and you just can't accept the fact that Your pair didn't win, c'mon Torvill and Dean were too old then to compete even for a medal;/ Moreover, Grishuk and Platov have always had the most difficult programmes! And in 1994 there were not even favourites, Usova and Zhulin were the first Russian pair, with all the ambitions for gold! But GP won because they are the best ever. Nobody could beat them!

Nah, sorry Mac - check out Torvill & Dean: they really dance, they have perfect harmony and synchronicity and are just the most graceful pair of skaters you'll ever see!

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you can't argue this point withough first watching the video with T&D skating tango without music......

Here nobody beat them because of the judges' games, and at least there were 4 fair judges, who had Usova&Zhulin first, the true Olympic champions. G&P are outstanding, but 'the best ever' is a very pretentious claim, and T&D are as good candidates for that title as G&P. I'm not British, but if I had to pick one greatest ice dance couple I've ever seen, that would be T&D.

I believe Usova&Zhulin actually were robbed in Lillehammer. The Rock'n'Roll was very exciting and difficult, but rather rough around the edges, and I think the unison was not nearly as good as with U&Z and T&D. T&D played it safe and looked very old-fashioned, and U&Z just hit it for me, even though it wasn't as good as their awsome Blues for Klook.

I saw him at the recent Worlds in Sweden. He is a coach for Sinead and John Kerr. He has aged since this performance, but he is still handsome.
