  • someone should seriously give Armie Hammer an Oscar. He had me in tears.

  • @Kyiaful Me too. He is amazing!

  • @lovefacesYJ yeah, he honestly blew me away. If he doesn't at least get a nomination, I would be shocked. Never heard about him before this, and now I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out for anything he's in from now on.

  • @Kyiaful Exactly. Both him and Leo deserve at least a nomination. Amazing chemistry. Just perfect. This is a great start for him. I hope this role opens more doors for him in Hollywood.

  • In my opinion J. Edgar Hoover was a fu-cking psycho and a bully. He was an Homophobe but a Homosexual.

  • @konrox He talks about it in his letter at the end, where he uses the words from one of the "Private Files".

  • It's a real B***H when people who cannot accept themselves turn that on you and see you as the orchestrator of their own self-imposed misery: "So you don't want me to be happy then!" Arr, no, YOU don't want yourself to be happy and you're effing BLIND! An incompletion... brilliant line & acting.

  • @JordanjamesX Yeap, in the movie they are what's termed "long time companions" which means they have lunch & dinner everyday, and transform the FBI-project together. They didn't have the same conceptualization of gays back then, but for me that works well. The fight/blood too. Ppl were only beginning to learn that they *could* have happiness in their lives (leading up to the 60s), it screwed up the old System and there was hurt on all sides. It makes it all quite amazing.

  • @anthorisme That was exactly my word for it, but I was surprised that a lot of people thought so too! It's really amazing - went to see it on my mother's work colleague's recommendation, was moved personally but I'm open to this stuff - but was surprised to find people in the cinema also enjoying everything so much, in a positive way! We're not a very open country to stuff like this, it's hard for people to see how deeply important happiness is, they just see "ah, gay! yuck" :-/

  • @KeyLimeLuca Yep, at first I so wanted to blame the mother, but then I realized Edgar's the one who actually hates himself and sees his emotions as a threat. Which makes life very difficult for him, but he keeps the faith unlike "Daffy" who put a gun to his head. So his mother spurred him on, for him to eventually overcome his own tyranny. Weird how things are seldom what they seem. Ppl in this drama struck me as somehow allowing one another to get thru life & figure things out.

  • @ILOVENATNALEX Same here (in Romania) I was surprised! We're not a very open country to stuff like that. People (like het couples) even snuggled up closer together during the film and some said "so it's a sad film then..." when the ending came - which means that they identified with the characters, instead of being distanced.

  • dont you ever do that again

  • I cried twice during the movie, and it was awesome that when they kissed everyone was like "heeeell yeeeah!!" LOL

  • I don't understand how Leo didn't get nominated for an Oscar for this, his acting is so beautiful and powerful, its a shame the academy don't notice like we all do.
