Both customer a and b pay u a rate monthly that u decide, whatever that rate may be, therefore, niether customer a or b should be paying any extras...its called insurance...the rate may change after the fact per customer... But to ask for extra is asking them to bend over...the younger generation will bend icbc over one of these days.

Hi Simon Kawa, applying depreciation on insurance claims is not unique to ICBC. ALL insurance companies apply depreciation unless you purchase a replacement cost type insurance policy. ICBC sells optional replacement cost insurance for customers who are concerned about the effects of depreciation. Please go to our website for more information. Thanks again for your comments.

So u agree that u give licences to people who cannot drive. And u agree that if a part is of poor quality after an accident, the replacement part will be of poor quality as well... Sounds safe. Why don't u increase the N to 5 points per ticket, so u can collect of young drivers even more...ridicoulous

Hi again Simon Kawa, no we do not provide licences to drivers who can not pass their knowledge or road tests. These tests are designed so drivers can demonstrate their ability to safely operarte a vehicle. And no, ICBC will not authorize the replacement of a "poor quality" part with a poor quality part. Safety is paramount so in these cases, ICBC may choose to use a new or used part and ask the customer to contribute part of the cost of the replacement part.

Here's an example of when we would ask for a contribution for a part: Customer 'A' has a later model car with a badly rusted bumper. Customer 'B' hits Customer 'A''s bumper and the bumper needs to be replaced. Is Customer 'A' entitled to a new bumper? No, ICBC will likely pay for an used bumper and apply a depreciation factor that Customer 'A' will have to pay. Another way to look at this example: If you were Customer 'B', would you want to pay for a new bumper for Customer 'A'.

Icbc = fix ur car with used parts, then leave u on the hook. Rip you off with BS policy. It's not what's right, it's what puts more cash in CEO pockets. Bad drivers means more money, good business. Get a lawyer when dealing with icbc, they will remove the mask. No offence to the employee posting here, clearly your doing a good job.

Hi Simon Kawa, thank you for comments but to clarify a couple of things, ICBC will only authorize parts that are the same, like, kind and quality of any part that is damaged. If you are unhappy about the parts being used, please talk to a suprevisor or manager. Bad drivers does not mean more money for ICBC, it means that ICBC has to pay more monies for crashes which ultimately means higher premiums for our customers. 80 cents out of every dollar we collect is paid out for the cost of claims.

Hi Simon Kawa, we disagree. Our Claims mandate is to settle claims promptly and fairly. You can always talk to a lawyer to get advice but you may want to give us a chance first.

Call a lawyer , stay away from icbc, their private lawyers and doctors are there to save them money, not you...
