In times of rising fuel prices, Americans are shifting from gas guzzlers to smaller cars. How small? The Takeaway went to Scooter Bottega in Brooklyn, N.Y., to investigate.

  • Americans need to realize that it's not JUST about the gas prices. It is about the whole infrastructure that is built around gasoline from the ground to the pump. It is wasteful, polluting and we need to change our energy sources by promoting clean energy, less car dependency and conservation.

  • A gallon for a mere three bucks? That's sooo cheap! If you were German, a liter would set you back 1.50 Euro, which is 8.80 $ per gallon.

  • New York City is not a big place, sometimes I wonder isn't suitable to see so many huge cars on the streets. Scooter is indeed a better choice for personal transportation.

  • I got me a scooter and park my 6 cilinders truck and Ican save about 50 to 100 bucks a week.

  • why doesent Usa imoprt cooler scooters? :P or make cooler scooter xP ..

  • I getting one. However, I will still buy a used car. I live in New York, so when Winter comes I can use my car. Still, I can save a lot of money using a nice $1,200-$1,500 scooter for about 6 months out of a year. I think I'll be OK commuting to school and home. I live in the Bronx so it's not that bad unlike in the city where I'm not that brave.
