what it really comes down to is this guys...should we let nature take its course? or do we try to take control of it ourselves? i personally think it is smarter to let nature take its course. i am very skeptical about things and this is no different. many of us have grown up playing video games and things like that so many of us might think this is really cool...but can you imagine what it would be like to become immortal and then want to die forever? would be pretty bad wouldnt it?

@99645md Kurzweil's only predicting the singularity based on his law of accelerating returns, he's not causing it to happen. Put simply, science is a method for obtaining knowledge.  To say that science isn't advancing humanity, is like saying that knowledge isn't advancing humanity. Given the fact that knowledge is the only thing that has ever caused progress of any sort, I would say that you need a serious reality check.

Every attempt of science to improve humanity has always taken the wrong turn and in most cases always by design. You so called intellictuals always feel you know what is right for humanity. Perhaps we need to fix our moral issuse before we try to play God. @GodofSpanaway Thank you for your lovely message. I think the science endeavors in advancing humanity no longer exist. I dont know what world you live in but the world I live in has only used science to cause more harm to humanity than they care to admit. Ray kurzweil began his singularity idea by his own admission in a quest to one day resurrect his beloved father. I would think that any one longing for imortality has a geart fear of death. Wouldn't you?
