the old man is the late aki iyat ruhiyat. he owned pencak silat school 'sekar pusaka' pusat in cihampelas-bandung. his successor who also opens pencak silat school (Garis Paksi) is Master Gending Raspuzi. you can find in the internet.

It is called Mande Muda, and we miss Pak Herman very much. He taught me a lot about the art and how to teach it. At the seminars, he would always make us laugh with his stories about SIlat and growing up with it.

Syncretism is one of the main strengths of Pentjak Silat, it's surprising that a "pendekar" would discourage learning new things outside of the art.
Differentiating between sport Silat and more traditional combative Silat is one thing; excluding other arts for the sake of keeping your style of Silat "pure" is much different. A master has both the right AND the obligation to keep the art "alive", adapting the expression of the art to correspond to cultural & environmental changes and new threats

why he sent me to pendekar to train when he started to traval and i culdnot train with him he said paul knows. he wanted students to keep silat alive and not to mix with western arts or other none silat arts. he was showing us the old way and did not want us to mix with the new way of silat.

i trained with Pa for many years, and whats best about his memory is that with amazing skill, he was so humble, no clicks, no politics, he was a a real Pendekar with nothing to prove. Truly was rare to be in a non political group with such a skilled leader, I miss it very much. RIP

Thanks so much for posting this. We need more Pa Herman clips on YouTube. The world really missed a rare Teacher and Mentor in Pa Herman.
It is really cool to see this in the roots of Silat. Who is the other Pendakar?

Yes this video simply feels special. I do not know the other teacher but it is evident he KNOWS his stuff.

Thanks. This video always caught my attention cause the detail he is showing is awesome. The juru he does reminds me of juru some claim only they "have it". So its nice to see actually exist in Indonesia. YES WE MISS PA HERMAN.
