Hey everyone! :)
Here is a song I wrote called 'Forty Years' which is basically a song that is carrying a message. I know a ton of people who are both underage and of legal age to smoke and some of them are addicts.
I wanted to make this song because I'm hoping that maybe if some people hear this, they can change their mind.
Forty Years is about a person who is addicted to smoking and started at a young age. The song tells a story about this person's life. It also shows the dangers because smoking can cause lung cancer. It also shows what agony it can cause to their loved ones if anything happened to them. I hope that this can encourage people to live a healthy life.
Lyrics:
A little cough, a little puff
A little smoke and you've turned your life around
A little drink to make you sink
A little accident to name silence your new sound
A little closer, you know it's your turn
Your bad decisions wrote your fate
Thirty years to rewind, we're back in present time
Turn back before it's too late
Who do you think you are
Driving fancy cars, living large, playing your guitar
Who are you to say
The world's locked you away, but there's love that's for you to stay
What choice do you make
It's the steps you choose, you take
To go forth without going astray or to throw your life away
Six years from now, you're out of town
You're still young but you can make mistakes
Now you've got kids, you've got a house
You've got people you love who want you to stay
A little closer, you know it's your turn
Your bad decisions wrote your fate
Thirty years to rewind, we're back in present time
Turn back before it's too late
Who do you think you are
Driving fancy cars, living large, playing your guitar
Who are you to say
The world's locked you away, but there's love that's for you to stay
What choice do you make
It's the steps you choose, you take
To go forth without going astray or to throw your life away
Next thing you know, you're lying down
In front of you, a monitor shows your heartbeat's pace
Doctor's running in with your folks
He says, 'you survived, thank God for His grace'
A little closer, you made all the wrong turns
But a miracle saved you now
Forty years to rewind, we're back in present time
Your friends' got some cigarettes and they're asking you to come out
You've still got time
To heal all your scars, to keep running far
Don't you try to play with fire
Don't put yourself to waste, life's not a game
What choice do you make?
Time to choose the steps you take
Don't throw your life away
A little cough, a little puff
A little smoke and you --- please just turn back now
Good grief Ria! This song gives me shivers! You are such a gifted singer and songwriter!
