Welcome to gadgetgossip! Every week, Naomi will show off a new geeky toy or useful tool as a video podcast. This is our first episode, and the site isn't completely finished yet, but feel free to pass the URL around to your friends. We'll be posting new episodes shortly.

This week, we ordered a TV-B-Gone from ThinkGeek. For about $20, including shipping, the device worked exactly as advertised. Since the shooting of the show, it's found a permanent home on my keychain, and has proved even more useful than I ever imagined.

  • you my friend earned a review

  • @mynickisalwaystaken no it works like a normal remote, its a infra-red beam that is being sent from the remote to the tv. If the beam is blocked by a wall or your hand for example it will be blocked, Therefore it will not work.

  • shes totally toasted

  • do you have to point it at the tv or can you do it with your back turned and can you do multiple tv's at once

  • No, but through window :P works well...

  • does it work through concret walls?

  • shes like the sister of beavis and butthead....--but cool anyway..

  • that was friggin awesome! her perky laughing made this funny to watch. i am definitely gonna get one of these

  • well, I also have one. IR LEDs can be seen by most video (security) cameras. So make a mental note of where the cameras are as you approach the place where you will be standing when you fire it and shield the IR LED from view of the camera using your hand or whatever. Second, NEVER look at the TV you're turning off. Face away from it and pretend to be checking out some cool product on the shelf. Live long and prosper!

  • just got mine any tips on how not to get caught using it at a store
