Tiernan Douieb started life in a hospital on Jan 9th 1981.
The hospital has since been closed and is now a home for the mentally ill. He accepts no responsibility for this.
Several grueling years later, he tried his hand at stand-up comedy after having cheated by taking a stand-up course at The University of Kent, taught by Oliver Double.
Tiernan took to the London and UK scene in June 2003 and started gigging regularly. With his stupidly unpronounceable name, Tiernan now regularly does 20-30 minute sets and MCing for various promoters and clubs all over the UK.
Tiernan runs 'Fat Tuesday' at the Salmon and Compass in Islington. They have had acts such as Russell Brand, Simon Amstell, Frank Skinner, Stephen Merchant and Stewart Lee and it is constantly a good night with much silliness and sometimes free popcorn.
Tiernan can be seen in the new Carslberg advert and has just returned from taking his sketch show with Lauren Shearing, 'Tea and Cake' to the Underbelly in Edinburgh. The show received great reviews and packed audiences for the whole of August.
Tiernan's comedy is much like him, quick, lively, odd and beardy. General topics include dancing bears, Lionel Richie, breakdancing, glowing pigs and the Samaritans.
Good stuff, we enjoyed seeing you at the Edinburgh Festival :)
