Roof deck fire in Boston's South End

As we were having a glass of wine on our roofdeck we all of a sudden saw a fire just a block away in the corner of Mass Ave and Harrison. We called 911 and I grabbed my camera...When the fire truck arrived 5 1/5 minutes later, and the ladder had been up for a minute, it just took them seconds to extingusih it.

It is amazing how many people see this movie being critical of the fire department! As soon as we saw the fire one of us called 911 -and I ran downstairs to get the camera. You can actually hear how one of my friends is in the midst of that call. But, someone else had from the hose to the left of the building on fire had already called 911.

We were not first. You hear and see when they arrive to the site. Just check the time when you watch the movie. That's it. The FD did a great job as they killed the fire. The time it took to get there is nothing I have any influence on. The clip just shows what happened.

Amazing how many comments this clip has gotten. I make no judgement in how fast or slow the fire was dealt with. I am happy they got to it! The clip just shows what happend when we all of a sudden saw the fire and I ran downstairs to get the camera. The firestation is 9 blocks, about 1/3 mile away (Mass ave & Harrisson to W Dedham & Harrison)

the first in companies are on scene at what sounds like 2:50 or around there NOT 5 1/2 MINS LATER boston fire dept. has one of the quickest response times in the nation and are one of the oldest and greatest depts. with quick fire knock downs and maybe you should have went down looked and also pulled a box alarm

the national standard for maximum response time in a city is 6 min from the time of caller connection with dispatch. Still that means that the fire will exponentially multiply in that time
