The hospices dont get more from the government - I am a carer at a UK hospice and only 33% of funds come from the NHS, the rest is from charitable donations. All care is purely for comfort and symptom control of those suffering with a TERMINAL illness. I'm interested to know where some of you get your notions from, and whether those that are damning them have really had any personal experience and spent some time in one! I am happy to answer any Q's for those with any fears re hospice care.
@mikethevegetable yeah I get that, but why do hospice get paid more when they kill the person within 2 weeks? I find that pretty cruel... Plus they do suffer either way some people don't do their jobs well and plus they will be suffocating since they're resiratory system is being blocked little by little. I wouldn't want to struggle for air all the time till I die that's horrible!
@Gloricelly95 It's for comfort. Some people simply don't want the treatment. Death is inevitable, and if you are in terrible, terrible health, would you rather be comfortable or dying miserably? Not everyone can be cured. Sorry bud.
Hospice is a horrible place they do kill old people. The government funds them because people get soo sick and the government doesn't want to spend money just to keep them alive longer. They use 2 drugs one is to block their respiratory system and the other one is to relax them. They drug them until they die and when they kill them within 2 weeks the government pays hospice more.
Hate this comment, I don't care! I work in a nursing home and I've seen what Hospice does to people! They cause people to die on schedule. They drug people up so that they die. They create a false image of "giving comfort" when they are actually killing their patients!...well at least they try! Then when someone gets better they almost faint because they expected them to die! HOSPICE CAN KISS MY ____!
If the person is incapable to ask it is illegal to give it them. Of course USA doctors just want money, no offence but your country really sucks... You guys don't even have healthcare. Here in South Korea the government set a wage for doctors that they can't go over. That way Doctors aren't greedy enough to do things like that. Besides maybe you were just blinded by love... Sometimes it is better just to let a person die. Whats the point in keeping them alive when so sick.
@MrConsumerWhore1 How can the patient ask if they, like my dad and mom were in their 80's and my sister was running the legal side of their lives. They really had no say in the issue. And for asking doctor that means nothing. In USA Doctors are running from patient to patient fast as possible to make money.Doctor are careless those up their in age they think oh well they lives a long life.Your clueless truth I said my parents were not terminal. Hospice = kill the old people....
I don't know what country you live in but in Korea the patient has to agree to going into a hospice and they have to be checked by a doctor before they are admitted. Also no one can ask for euthansia unless they are the person who wants to receive it, further more they are usually rejected by the Doctor for not being sick enough. Most hopices just provide pain killers and a comfortable life. They aren't murder houses... Don't stereotype.

Hospice Care is aimed at comfort, not cure.
