At Queens Park Bakerloo Line trains which serve the track-shared section of line* north of here travel through a trainshed.

This film was taken on a southbound train, and includes some still images shwoing the trainshed and the station.

*mainline and underground trains have been tracksharing here since WW1. It provides a better service with more through destinations. It also meant that the LNWR (London and North Western Railway) did not need to build an underground loop at Euston, as part of the service could be provided by underground trains (and sent along the North London Line to Broad Street)

  • northbound the train goes round the outside of the shed doesn't it?

  • Traveling through a building! One of our universities here in Chicago built one of their buildings around the elevated tracks! They made an above ground tube then built the building around it to muffle the noise as the trains run on a steel viaduct at that point.
