Enable 480p and use the arrow icon! "So Long Mom (A Song for WW III)" is now REPUBLISHED yet another time to celebrate a lot of video views for the first two versions published to YouTube. Why? Well, to offer the song in (even) slightly better quality. The old version is still on the channel, but use HQ if possible and play back the video on a single YouTube page to get a bigger video window.

"So Long Mom (A Song for WW III)" speaks for itself, but it is nice that you can be on TV just because you are a soldier. If history will repeat itself this song can never be outdated.

In 2008 Lehrer really said "OK" to "The Tom Lehrer Wisdom Channel" on YouTube, as long as the performance is not altered and as long as it's free in the YouTube flash video format.

Click on the user name and visit the channel's front page. The channel is Lehrer only. And here is a link to the channel's support page:

  • I didn't think it was possible for this song to get any better, but seeing Tom sing it with that little smirk on his face just made my decade!

  • @gspendlove, oh thank you, I loved your comment. Look, don´t get put off by my stupid username "6funswede". Click on that name and visit the channel, no crap there, the channel is Lehrer only. And then email the link for his song "Send the Marines" to 10 friends while you enjoy the line "to the shores of Tripoli". That really IS good satire:-)

  • This DVD is definitely going on my Christmas list.

    :-)

Thanks so much for uploading these. He is fantastic!

  • @MrsNorris55, how nice to hear that (and I`m not an official promoter profiting on this). Truth be told, the rediscovered Lehrer 1967 video performance was released in Los Angeles in April, and it really is the comedy Christmas gift of the year in the United States (and elsewhere :-)

  • This video is now out on DVD. Please read the updated video description or visit the channel page!

  • Fantastic!

  • Thank you, These twelve songs - never commercially released on video - are easily some of the rarest recordings on YouTube. Now they're in HQ, and it's a free ride. Spread the word :-)

  • This song is both hilarious and quite sad, when you think about it.

  • 0:19 skip the crap

also, this guy is the best! smart, yet satirical

  • Tom Lehrer is my comedy hero! actually he is my hero of all time! New songs just cant compare. I must say though his voice sounds different when he sings (better). and does anyone know where i can get the piano notes for this song, the best song!

  • @6funswede

Just ordered it - can't wait!

  • This guy helped enhance my vocabulary very much. I heard his first album when I was in junior high and had no idea what many of his words meant. lol. Got a lot of practice with a dictionary too. I love his satire and he is a master of the piano too.

  • Ok, kids .Pop quiz.

    make a rhyme for

    'Armageddon'.

answer: ''This is what he said on...''

i should make you review the vid again.

    ...thanx, 6...
