  • The beauty of this commercial that nobody mentions is the beautiful SOUND of the cars. Especially the 1967. Just beautiful and thank you for posting this; your home vid actually shows the acceleration in a more impressive light than the commercial. Right when he comes back around.

  • thanks!

  • dude i saw that ferrari shell commercial i thought it was cgi, didn't know this part was real holy shit!!!

  • yes,

and it was freezing that day too!

we had 100 production assistants holding traffic/pedestrians with the NYPD traffic dept...

  • hi Guys,

Thanks for the info! Apparently the commercial is airing in Europe and South Africa right now. I havent seen it in the USA

  • thanks. the stunt driver/f1 driver told me it was a '69. The cars cool, thats all that matters...

  • most of the americans there dont know what that is.

  • Its a 1967 F1 312. You can tell by the exhaust pipes. The 1969 was a flat 12 with the pipes coming out the side. The 2nd car in the commercial was a '69. The one pictured here in NY was a '67 driven by Lornezo Bandini and Chris Amon.

  • you gotta love a car that goes 7000mph.

  • @McLarenMercedes WTF are you talkin' about dude? The flat 12 was the best engine in 1970 being the most powerful with more than 450 bhp, Ferraris problem back in those years has always been the tube frame chassis covered with panels, a lot heavier and not as much rigid as the english chassis which, at that time, were all monococques. BTW in 1970 Ferrari won 5 races (4 Ickx, 1 Andretti) and Ickx came close second to Rindt (who died 2 races before the end in Monza) in the championship...

  • think the the americans there will be like OMG is that michael andretti in a champcar?..americans lol!

  • Wow... I'm very happy to see this footage. I love that commercial!

  • Wrong.

Ferrari raced all season with the 312 V12. The flat 12, refered to as the boxer or 312B, was only TESTED by Chris Amon for the last 3 races of 1969 but was NEVER raced until 1970.

Amon wasn't too impressed and left Ferrari for 1970 because he felt the boxer was still no match for the dominant Cosworth V8. He was part right because Ferrari didn't really get it right with the boxer until 1975 with the 312T.

Anyway the flat 12 debuted in 1970. Was still not a match for Lotus's 72

  • Correct! 1969 312s also had very high and very dangerous rear wings.
