Wow. This video has an incredible air of futility, despair and melancholy to it. It's nothing at all what I pictured I my head when I first heard the song, but it's quite powerful imagery that actually had me feeling very sad by the end.
While it would have been cool to see you in the video, I think it might have just added distraction. The use of an "unknown man" makes it easier for the watcher to internalize what's happening and thus create a stronger emotional impact.
