"It's generally accepted that the strategy of containment by threat of sanction or force of arms has a limited shelf life," says Ancram. "It needs to be replaced by a strategy of dialogue."

"The days of going it alone are over." Very well said. There is no longer value in shunning others and having enemies. Perhaps the military and policymakers strategising on Afghanistan could take this message to heart.
