  • @TheWyldeGoose I totally disagree! As a libertarian and an atheist, I think there are very practical reasons for having inalienable rights, that have nothing to do with GOD. Human beings are fallible and prone to corruption whenever given power over others. This makes it sensible to limit peoples power as far as possible to only having control over their own lives. Any organised religion with power, will attract the power hungry in the same way that paedophiles are attracted to children!

  • @kev3d cont... Ideas are not tangible, but their effects are. But to believe that Morals are as invented as Ideas ignores the peculiar nature of our existence and our history. We can see what happens when people choose to behave like animals, and choose to rise above that. The latter is difficult, but we can see and understand the very tangible benefits of doing so, and not doing so. Some things are not so obvious, but little by little the look of a country changes by what we allow to grow.

  • Ron Paul for President 2012 Freedom, Prosperity and Peace! Restore America Now!

  • @TheWyldeGoose Tell me this, In the Bible does it say Limited Government is more desirable than Big Government? By your logic, you need an infallible book to tell you what and how to think. That's slavery my friend.

  • @dawgg981 That cliche is the biggest lie, the sheep massively outnumber the wolves. Real democracy is the wolves biggest fear. Western 'democracy' is really fascism. Would you prefer a minority group to take away the rights of innocent citizens?

  • Mr. Williams can you have a discussion about negative LIBERTIES?

  • That is why organiZed religion has no power dummy. Your words are just as nonsensical as they are colorful. Focus more on the point you are trying to make and less on invoking an emotional response.

  • @TheWyldeGoose So forced conversions, confessions, torture and the occasional execution of jews and heretics was politically motivated....hmmm, I wonder if there was any large, multi national organization that operated back then that was very rich and powerful that could influence governments and even topple kings. Oh wait, there was. It was called the church. Add to their laundry list of abuses the thousands of witch burnings.

  • @TheWyldeGoose It is often stated that morals never change, but according to whom? The morals of the bible change all the time, depending on the book. In Job, God makes a wager with Satan about Job's faith and gives permission to kill his children and live stock. In 2Kings, he sends bears to kill children who had made fun of a bald Elisha. Certainly that is not en eye for an eye concept from Deuteronomy. If morals never change, we should expect the author of those morals to be consistent.

  • @TheWyldeGoose I don't understand the statement "behaving like animals"....what animals? Dolphins? Bees? Ring Tailed Lemurs? Like it or not, humans are a social primate species. It should be no surprise that our closest cousins, Chimps, show behaviors such as sharing, adoption of orphaned babies, family units, mutually beneficial grooming, but also fear, distrust, deception and war. Whatever morality humans have, it would seem they have a biological, rather than spiritual origin.

  • @TheWyldeGoose Morals are not growing or living in the biological sense, but certainly they change with time as all organisms do. Ask yourself about slavery. Most today would regard it as grossly immoral. Yet 2000 years ago it was simple accepted as a way of life. If we are to believe the Bible, Jesus heals the Centurion's sick slave, but he never admonishes the slave owner. Paul says that slaves should be obedient to their masters, he does not say Masters, set your slaves free.
