I think the thing with the gel pads is that you actually have to put a bit of baby powder in them beforehand to "soak up" the sweat (I know, it sounds gross). The blue gel pads you showed in the video are the worst, in my opinion. The padding is like .5-1cm thick! I love the purple ones though because you can't exactly "sink" into them.

@katie6738 It's a brand for ballet things like toe caps and spacers and things like that.

@idanceforGod2 I agree as well about the gel toe pads. When I first started, I had a pair of blue gel pads but they were about .5-1cm thick at the toe and made me sink in the shoes. I have a pair of purple gel pads though and I actually really like them!

What is the difference between the ouch pouch that covers the ball of the foot(first one on the video) and the other one that doesn't cover the ball of the foot(second one)???

I know you weren't asking me, but gell pads for most people are too much and very uncomfortable. But you should just find out what you like best! I actually use a little toilet paper and thin toe pads. It's the only thing that doesn't hurt to immensly. ( I have a longer big toe, so all the weight is on it)
I hope this helps! :)

I heard gel pads are actually really good. A girl in my dance class has them and she recommended them for me. Should I get them?

Is Pointe magazine available in Australia?
Do you have some advice on extra padding to prevent toes from bleeding? I'm using ouch pouches and they do a great job cushioning my toes but my little toes always start bleeding when I'm on pointe for more than an hour! Is there anything else I can do besides wrap band aids around them? Thank you so much in advance!

@Banquo85 That same thing happens to me! I totally forgot to talk about it... if I can remember before class, I just tape my pinkie toes or wrap a band aid around them. It prevents them from getting blisters, but doesn't help if I already have a blister. I hear there's something called "new skin" or something like that, it's suppost to help if you already have a blister.

Thank you for posting this video! It's helped me so much! I didn´t knew whether to get ouch puches or gel pads, but at the end I got ouch pouches not sure whether they were right or wrong for beginners. I usually wer them with a bit of wool on my iggest toe cause it hurts, but should I just stand the pain? Will it be gone sometime? Or do you still feel that it hurts a lot?

@KalexCullen What happened with me is that I still get pain in my toes, but I'm so use to it now that it doesn't seem to hurt as much as it use to. =)
