This exciting development is planned for September 2011, when Bournville College will relocate to the ex-Rover site, subject to necessary approvals by the Learning and Skills Council and Birmingham City Council, as part of the regeneration project for Longbridge.

The new £84 million campus, spanning 4.2 acres, will be prominently located on the junction of the A38 Bristol Road South and Longbridge Lane and will have capacity for 15,000 students. The landmark building will bring together Bournville Colleges existing three campuses, featuring state of the art facilities including a learning resource centre, business school, construction workshop and leisure and sport facilities.

The launch event, endorsed by the Institute of Directors, will welcome over 150 guests from local and national businesses, community organisations, universities, Birmingham City Council and many more. David Cragg, Regional Director of the Learning and Skills Council will open the event and the guest speaker will be Miles Templeman, IoD Director General.

Norman Cave, Bournville College Principal, said: We are delighted to be hosting this event and celebrating the launch of our new building with partners and guest from the region and beyond. The move is great news for everyone, especially the local community, who can look forward to a state-of-the-art and inspirational learning environment in a new South City Centre location. We are excited to be part of the ambitious plans for the regeneration of Longbridge, providing skills and knowledge required by businesses, local community, adults and young learners in a landmark 21st Century education facility. We are grateful for the support we have received from Advantage West Midlands and the Learning and Skills Council.

The new build plan is in response to governments new legislation and the plans to transform further education sector into a powerhouse of economic prosperity and social mobility and improved facilities and buildings are an integral part of this mission
