The eleventh entry and my first attempt at filling out the new 16:9 wide screen view on YouTube.
And so, the Shirley Bassey/ Bond trilogy comes to an end with 1979's "Moonraker".
I hear that this is the least favored of the three Bond theme songs that she's done, but I don't have a real favorite out of any of songs in the entire franchise, I take in every new song as part of a whole, each one crucial to the overall phenomenon that is James Bond.
When the time came to decide a subject for "Moonraker", I was juggling many choices, chief amongst them was the Gundam franchise, even though I didn't know any of the individual series' that well. "Neon Genesis Evangelion" was also another candidate, but to be honest, I knew absolutely nothing about the plot, only recognizing the characters in many fan works...
It wasn't until I began studying other people's AMVs when I saw a clip from a show that seemed very familiar...and then, it finally became clear to me what "Moonraker" should be based on...
"Outlaw Star"...despite the fact that my naivete to anime back then prevented me from enjoying this series the way it was meant to be, it has remained in my subconscious as a treasured part of my childhood with Toonami...and on a few VHS tapes.
The clip that stirred my memory was one of Melfina, the android who, along with the ship, the Outlaw Star, was the key to finding the mysterious Galactic Leyline, which supposedly held great fortune for those daring enough to seek it...
Melfina's melodramatic nature and the overall plot of the series matched very well with the song...and so that's that.
Christ, writing these descriptions can be quite the chore, trying to keep exactly how I devised my videos as accurate as I remember...
Anyway, enjoy.
Pretty good, but I had to laugh that you didn't include James(aka Jim)in the video!

There's a lot of things I wish I could have put in this video, such as the many space battles throughout "Outlaw Star", or the other female characters (occaisionally in place of Melfina).
But the primary objective is choosing the best footage from one series to enhance and bring out the lyrics of each Bond theme song.
Gene Starwind is James Bond, as this is established in the bonus scene at the start.
And Jim does appear in the launch sequence, at least. Suzuka didn't get to say shit!
