Gameplay from Arkanoid & Arkanoid 2 on the Commodore Amiga vintage home computer. Retro Gaming.

This is not a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability.
It's more a case of me speaking my thoughts while playing the games, many for the first time, and most for the first time in a very long time... so it's all a little spontaneous and random.
Predictably, as I never practice before recording, I usually play very badly.

Given that I am playing many of these games for the first time, and everything I say is completely off the cuff, you probably shouldn't take what I say overly seriously. The opinions that I express are my feelings at the time, but it's entirely possible that they would be different if I were to take the time to get to grips with the game.

However, given that these videos are intended to show that "first time experience", I believe they have some validity or merit.

  • Trackball or mouse is the only way to go really with games like Arkanoid/Krakout. This Amiga version is very well done.

    I play a MSX2 version quite often.

  • @markvergeer Muse works well on this kind of game, but trackball is way better.

I'm wondering now if MSX2 even got into the UK. I never saw one in the shops, much less any software for them.

  • "Msx1 and Msx2, two members of the Msx gene family, encode homeoprotein transcription factors and play critical roles during mouse development. Because of the redundancy between the two genes, many of these roles can only be studied in double Msx1; Msx2 mutants" .... LOL

Generation of an Msx2-GFP conditional null allele. Genesis New York (2000) Bensoussan V, Lallemand Y, Moreau J, Cloment CS, Langa F, Robert B

  • @markvergeer Lemme guess... you googled "MSX2 mouse"? :D

  • Stuff the score Steve???? That's like saying stuff the Lap Time!!

Nice Vid mate and a great game indeed.

  • @LeShark75 Wait.... there are games with lap times? :O

  • The C64 version was better than the Amiga version, better music, I even had the C64 mouse to play it, It's amazing that some games are better on the C64 than the Amiga considering the power diference, Last ninja being another one.

  • Arkanoid 1 and 2 on the C64 played great finished both after long sleepless nights :-)

  • Arkanoid was ace, remember my dad playing it on my old speccy 48k!!!!Legend of a game...

  • These both look to be pretty good ports of the arcade originals!

  • @AtsumaKarin OK, forget I said anything as that yielded the same results when I searched it. Guess I'll never know. :(

  • @SteveBenway yeah, I think it was too after doing a search on here lol. :S

I think it was actually: "Arcadia" on 2nd thought...wish I could just dig it up and play it. :(

  • @SteveBenway Not sure, perhaps you're right and didn't the MSX2 standard hit British shores back in the day. MSX1 was very present though.

  • @SteveBenway Actually yes, the small black ones work particularly well for this type of game. Paddles would be the best obviously but those sticks are a nice substitute.
