  • man i love leadbelly

  • I totally agree! It was a shame that he never got to see just how famous his work would become! I just love it and learned about it because it was the #1 song in the month that I was born. I began reading up about him - so great!

  • SOMEONE HAS TO MAKE A DAY DEIDCATED TO LEADBELLY .....GIVE HIM THE CREDIT HE DESERVES FOR ALL THE SONGS EVERYONE ELSE COPIED....PEOPLE MY AGE STILL THINK NIRVANA MADE "WHERE DID YOU SLEEP LAST NIGHT" EVEN THO KURT SAYS HE DIDNT MAKE IT IN THE LIVE UNPLUGGGED!!! LEADBELLYS THE MAN ... SPREAD HIS GREATNESS

  • @TheBananakins only in his first imprisonment.

  • This, along with many other songs were recorded at the Lousiana State Penitentiary, also known as Angola,in 1933.Its funny how so many songs are sampled after Lead Belly's songs. He is a true musician.

  • He actually got out of prison because he could sing.

  • @kenh333 hahah that cracked me up

  • these recordings are priceless gems

  • Leadbelly invents RAP in this one.

  • Thank you, Alan Lomax!
