Xeno Tactic (version 1.3) Mission 5
No lives lost and no juggling.
"Death Skew"
This one took me a long time to perfect. I had experimented with many variant builds that like this final version sent the aliens across the maze from two different directions, crossing paths at the center. The more I tinkered with this idea the more I became convinced that it was the answer to beating mission five without juggling while still maintaining a perfect victory. (This build eliminates the bunching and overlapping that allows aliens to overrun turrets en masse by keeping the two groups separated on opposite sides of the maze. Yet they are still forced to go by every turret.) It seems trivial to beat this mission with a basic juggling build, but near impossible to get a perfect victory without resorting to juggling. So I kept plugging away and fine tuned this one until it was just as perfect as I know how to make it. Much trial and error and a few serendipitous discoveries along the way led to this final build.
One of my earliest discoveries was that the aliens slow down while turning. I originally tried a maze at a 45 degree slant, but that gave them two squares of straight movement between each turn and allowed the multiplying slugs to explode through the walls at an unacceptably high rate. So I reduced the slant to 22.5 degrees as seen here, and everything changed. Now they have only one square of straight movement between alternate turns, and the slugs don't explode through the walls quite as often as they did at 45 degrees. And the maze is longer as more pathway can fit onto the screen with a lower angle.
Everything in this build is about surviving levels 48 and 49 with a perfect score. First the boss slugs come at 48, followed by the boss fliers at 49. The two DACs are maxed by level 49, but they are not enough by themselves to bring down the bosses. So beginning at level 41 I put in three freeze turrets (their positions were marked by place-holding walls since the beginning) to slow down all the bosses of levels 48 and 49. You can't maintain a perfect score without them, but don't need them for anything else in the entire mission. Next, once the flier bosses of 49 are destroyed, the two DACs get sold and the remaining four plasma turrets get maxed out quick as possible. The hordes of level 50 are a nuisance but not a danger, so once all eight plasma turrets are maxed the freeze turrets slow down the slug spawn enough to finally destroy them before they get out of reach.
This build will land me a perfect score about 80% of the time. But the other 20%, one of the flier bosses of level 49 will escape because he comes in on one of the extreme sides instead of near the center and my freeze turrets don't hit him in time. I can't find a way to make this build 100% dependable to save my life, so if anyone has any ideas, please post them.
I don't bother with mission 6 because it is impossible to finish without juggling and that is not in the spirit of the game for me.
What the fuck? where you get those walls? I play it on Xgenstudios and all you get all 6 of the basic weapons.

@ernesdee2o916 You have to play version 1.3 for the walls. The version number comes up during the opening splash screen. Andkon Arcade currently has 1.3.

to which level can you reach in mission 6?

This build will get you to level 70-something in mission 6. And that's if you don't sell the DCA's like I did here and just let the level 48 bosses slip by. For mission 6 you really need a strong juggling build with *lots* of DCAs - nothing else will do. My builds tend to be very mission specific - check out my videos of the other missions to see what I mean. What works for me on mission 4 does not necessarily work on mission 5, etc. I don't enjoy juggling so don't play mission 6 that much.

ya i can see you dont like juggling but i find your builds very interesting, so if you upload a mission 6 video it'd be cool.

Cool, I'll see what I can do. I'm certainly not going to be able to get anywhere close to level 100 but I'll see just how far a non-juggling build can get on mission 6. I'll try and post something in the next week or two.
