Daisy

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) officers found Daisy stranded on Gonzales Beach near Victoria, B.C. on August 26, 2008, and transferred her to the Vancouver Aquarium's Marine Mammal Rescue Centre. She was about 1-2 months old, emaciated and dehydrated. She also had extreme muscle damage. Nonetheless, after much expert care and treatment from our staff veterinarian Dr. Martin Haulena and his team of veterinary technicians, marine mammal care experts and volunteers, Daisy has beat the odds and is now entering the next phase of her rehabilitation.


Daisy moved to the Aquarium on July 29, 2009. Her favourite toy, a plastic yellow ring, made the move with her. She is now exploring her new home and interacting daily with marine mammal trainers. Her health and wellbeing are the top priority for her team of marine mammal care staff and volunteers.


As the only harbor porpoise currently in a North American aquarium, Daisy is an important ambassador for her species in the wild. We invite you to visit Daisy and learn about the ways you can help conserve her species and her ocean environment.
