Julia Thaller assistant instructor at the Koshin-ha Chito ryu Yoseikan Karate Dojo demonstrates variations on #s 1 thru 10 of Chito ryu's 28 Hen Shu Ho fighting applications.
The aim in experimenting with and modifying these techniques is to retain the essence and principles expressed in each of the movements and at the same time preform them in a less static and more plausible, dynamic manner.
In some cases the modification is very small (blocking/receiving or entering method) and in others the attacks are changed to more appropriately pair a realistic response to a specific attack. Modifying them in this way
provides students responses to a variety of attacks other than stepping linear straight punches and pairs appropiate responses to attacks. This enables practitioners to understand the principles inherent in Hen Shu Ho in the context of functional fighting skills creating a bridge to higher level ability.
very dynamic and effective. congrats
