u guys dont get it.south korea WANTS to reunify with the north. its just that the north is very indifferent to it and they have HUGE ASS china watching over them. sadly, korea is still a very small country compared to china. china is powerful with great economic power. its hard for a small country to make these HUGEE decisions that r against a big country. also, one country's decision affects the others..which can start another world war.
but i agree..Korea should just do it anyway! no bomb? :(
North Korea is doing a fantastic job of rendering themselves to nothing more of a space filler between China and South Korea. Also the chinese would certainly welcome South Korean investment.
S.Korea hate Japan. It's true. But if it's neccesary to make a choice between PRC an Japan, S.Korea will choose Japan. It's the true and it can be seen at present
US wanted more client states, that's why it divided Korea. The only reason why US lacks the will to ensure 100% complete reunification is because the belligerence of North Korea is a useful tool to justify continue US presence on the peninsula.
If push comes to shove, China would easily kick US out of the peninsula, US knows this, and that's why it prefers the status quo.
The only bigger threat to China after US leaves East Asia is a re-militarized Japan, and both China and Korea hates Japan, so that is the only reason why China would drop obsolete anti-US buffer state (North Korea) to allow for a strong, prosperous country to balance a re-militarized Japan.
China wants a Korea that can stand up to Japan, that is why US leaving East Asia is so important, because it will facilitate a Seoul-led united Korea that will be friendly to China.

If the US wanted to take over China it would have done so a long time ago and North Korea couldn't have done shit.

@independentTW
Did you know, NATO's first Secretary General said NATO's purpose was to "Keep Russians out, Germans down, and Americans in."
Of course, U.S. anti-Communist crusade in Asia is to "Keep Chinese/Russians out, Koreans/Japanese/Vietnamese down, and Americans in."
It's still really retarded how Koreans are divided today. Only Koreans themselves don't think so.

@Phead128 I don't believe that. US don't need such a reason to present here. PRC want to keep the North as it's shield
