I think she does the best. The f's sound like a pretty little flute, instead of a birthing mother, like it does with most singers.

What? Many people have sung this song in the past 70 years. Come on out of the cave.

@winkandrun It's not supposed to sound like a pretty little flute. The Queen of the night is one pissed off lady, and her anger is supposed to come through in the aria...which it does not here.

In the final part "Hort, hort, hort" she is really wonderful. On the f's she sings very quickly and she's not as powerful as I'd like. I hear more sweetness than rage, at least in comparison with other performances.

@winkandrun Yes yes yes yes!
-
@seetsebea1 you sing it - upload, and we'll judge......

@skitzo429 - ? funny - let's see it on American Idol.... could make their job a lot easier!
-
this is the best - damrau will always compete with the ease of her vocal capabilities - simply the best of the 20th century -
no question or doubt - beautiful, smooth, delicate, on note!!!!!!
-
@skitzo429 she totally is, but you're entitled to your opinion as i am to mine
-
@shaniquahk789 get your ears checked, shes not sharp.

I've heard better voices, but this recording to captures the essence of the Queen perfectly to me. I would not mess with this woman ;)

She´s a perfect kind of Diva... brava!
i like this much better than the one that they used in amadeus. no offense to june or to those involved in the film, but this is by far the better of the two. thank you for posting this.

I LOVE, LOVE this! Its great! I like it MUCH BETTER than the recorded performance she gave for the movie AMADEUS in which her voice was used in the production of "Die Zauberflote" in the film AMADEUS (1984) which they had her do in English. Ack! I hate when operas are performed in different languages than which they were written. When was this recorded? It is fantastic!

I agree!
It was recorded on 1991, some years after Amadeus;)
